Primary Project Leader Caroline Crosthwaite

Funding

Summary
UQ Engineering proposes to evaluate and enhance the impact of introducing the Engineers Without Borders Challenge student design program as the focal point of the first-year engineering learning experience at UQ. All first year engineering students (approximately 970 in 2008) now undertake an EWB sponsored project as part of the flagship first year course ENGG1000 Introduction to Professional Engineering. The proposed project will undertake a range of monitoring and evaluation activities such as surveys and focus groups targeting students, tutors and academics. The results will identify new opportunities to consolidate, improve and extend the EWB Challenge within engineering and to other non-engineering areas within the Faculty
