Four ALTA Fellows have been appointed for a 2-year period:

Chris Pilgrim, Swinburne University of Technology

Area of focus:

  • improving professional practice in the curricula
  • enhancing the reputation of ICT as a profession

Elena Sitnikova, UniSA

Area of focus:

  • preparing students for professional placements through enhanced generic skills (especially with SE students)
  • educating and supporting tutors

Nick Falkner, Adelaide University

Area of focus:

  • development of a framework for measuring effort in relation to the introduction/adoption of new technologies and innovations in T&L

Simon, Newcastle University

Area of focus:

  • expanding conventicles to other states/locations
  • supporting regional and remote universities.


A common theme for all Fellows was Growing the ICT Education Network through:

-          building sustainable networks

-          building passion for ICT T&L

-          enhancing the status and support for educational research in ICT

-          building a supportive community for ICT education

-          uncovering the ICT education community (turning rocks over)

-          seeding and linking.

The Fellows met in Sydney at the ACS, Thursday 22 December 2011 to start planning their Fellowship.
